A land, landscapes

The horizon around Arles is made up of three differents landscapes surrounding the city whose wealth of Roman and Romanesque monuments continues to fascinate visitors from all over the world : the Alpilles hills which inspired  Frédéric Mistral, the arid Crau of the shepherds, and the Camargue, situated between the two branches of the lower Rhone.

In the light of Van Gogh

It was the Provençal light that attracted Van Gogh to the South. The name of Arles will forever be associated with that of Van Gogh. No one can speak of the special quality of the light in the city without thinking of Van Gogh's paintings. Other artists share this fascination. Painters of yesteryear and of today came and continue to come to Arles to walk in the famous master's footsteps.
